New here?

First time? Start here

Walking into a dispensary for the first time can feel like a lot - it does not have to. Here is the short version, and our team is always happy to walk you through the rest in person.

1

Start low, go slow

Pick a lower-THC option and give it time before taking more - especially with edibles, which can take up to two hours to kick in.

2

Shop by effect, not just name

Tell us how you want to feel - relaxed, uplifted, sleepy, social - and we will point you to the right terpenes and products.

3

Bring a valid 21+ ID

You will need a government photo ID at the door and at checkout. That is it - come say hi.

Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid

You will hear these three words a lot. As a general guide, indica-leaning strains tend to feel relaxing and body-heavy - great for winding down at night (an old memory trick is "in-da-couch"). Sativa-leaning strains tend to feel more energizing and heady, which many people prefer for daytime. Hybrids are crossbreeds that land in between, tuned toward whichever side they lean. Some of that comes down to chemistry: indicas often carry more of the terpene myrcene (relaxing), while sativas lean toward limonene (bright and uplifting). Still, the label is only a starting point - the real driver of how a product feels is its full terpene and cannabinoid mix. Tell us the vibe you are after and we will match you.

A closer look at edibles

Edibles work differently from smoking or vaping - your digestive system processes the THC, so the effect tends to be more of a full-body experience, and timing matters. Onset usually takes 15 minutes to an hour (faster on an empty stomach) and effects can last anywhere from 2 to 8 hours. They also tend to build during the first half, so the golden rule is to start with a low dose - 2.5 to 5 mg of THC is a common first step - and wait a full two hours before taking any more. Pre-made edibles list exact milligrams per piece, which makes them the easiest way to dose consistently. If you ever take too much, it is not dangerous but it can feel overwhelming: find a calm space, hydrate, and it will pass. In an emergency call 911, or reach Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.

Dropper of golden cannabis oil, a calming option for evening and sleep

Cannabis and sleep

Plenty of people reach for cannabis to unwind at night. THC can feel sedating and may help some people fall asleep faster, while CBD is often used to quiet a racing mind and ease stress-related restlessness; some shoppers look for a little CBN as well. On the plant side, indica-leaning flower and calming terpenes like myrcene and linalool are popular evening picks. Everyone's body is different and the research is still young, so start with a low dose earlier in the evening, see how you respond, and talk to your doctor if sleep is an ongoing concern.

THC vs. CBD

THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the cannabinoid most responsible for the euphoric "high." CBD (cannabidiol) is non-intoxicating and is often used for calm and comfort without a heady effect. Many products blend the two, and a balanced 1:1 ratio can soften THC's intensity while keeping its benefits. If you are new, start low on THC and go slow.

Terpenes and effects

Terpenes are the aromatic compounds that give each strain its smell (citrus, pine, pepper, florals) and they shape how a product feels. Limonene tends to feel bright and uplifting, myrcene relaxed and couch-friendly, pinene clear and focused, linalool calm and soothing. On every product page we list the detected terpenes and the effects they lean toward, so you can shop by the experience you want, not just the name.

Ways to consume

Flower and pre-rolls are fast-acting - effects arrive within minutes and last about 1 to 3 hours. Vapes and concentrates are potent and quick, too. Edibles and beverages come on slower (15 minutes to an hour) and last much longer, so patience pays off. Tinctures sit under the tongue for flexible, dose-by-the-drop control. Onset and duration vary by person, product, and how much you have eaten.

Dosing and "start low, go slow"

For edibles, 2.5 to 5 mg of THC is a common starting dose; wait a full two hours before taking more. With flower or vapes, a puff or two is plenty to gauge how you feel. Tolerance builds over time and resets with breaks. You can never un-take a dose, so it is always safer to work up gradually.

What to expect

Common, temporary side effects can include dry mouth or eyes, drowsiness, a little dizziness, and slower reaction time - which is exactly why you should never drive or operate machinery after using. Start in a comfortable setting, keep water nearby, and give yourself time. If cannabis ever makes you anxious, a lower-THC or higher-CBD product usually feels gentler.

How to read a lab report (COA)

Every product New York sells is lab-tested. A Certificate of Analysis (COA) shows total THC and CBD, the full cannabinoid and terpene breakdown, and passing results for pesticides, heavy metals, and microbials. Look for the "View lab test results" link on our product pages to see each batch's own COA.
